Events by Emily

I’ll be the first to admit that planning posh events is not one of my talents.  Need someone to teach you how to boil a chicken?  I’m your gal.  Want to know more about how to eat to prevent disease?  Bada bing… call me up.  I’d even go so far as to call myself creative and organized (which does come in handy the two times per year I decide to host a party.)  But when it comes soiree-throwing, I fully recognize that I need help.  Most of us do, I’d say.  So I’m excited to be introducing Events by Emily to you today as one of Pretty/Hungry’s newest brand partners!

I’ve known Emily Wilson for upwards of a decade.  (I met her at a high school mission trip to Mexico and thought, “Gosh, this girl sure has a magnetic personality!)  And most recently I’ve had the pleasure of working with her as one of her graphic design clients.  Did you know she designed my gorgeous business cards?

And now that the icy winter is thawing and we’re finally headed out of the gloom and into the glory that is “Wedding & Party Season” I couldn’t wait to tell you more about Emily’s many talents as an event planner, in case you’ve got an event coming up yourself!

Emily has an extensive background in entertainment, event production, promotions, marketing and public relations.  She focuses on creating unforgettable celebrations while bringing a fresh perspective to the mix. Whether she is planning an intimate 25 person six-course dinner or NBA Development League games with more than 14,000 people, her unique stamp is always evident.  Emily has worked for companies such the NBA Development League and Red Bull in promotions; Centennial Bank as their Marketing Director; St. Vincent Hospital as their lead Event Planner, and CGi as their Marketing Director.  And while all of these jobs and experiences helped hone Emily’s skills and develop her networking power, they weren’t her passion.

She wanted to combine her love for events, marketing, public relations, and design in a platform that allowed her to truly represent her clients. In Events by Emily’s first year, Emily decided to focus solely on weddings. She booked seven weddings in 120 days, by word of mouth alone! Clients fell in love with her attention to details, honesty, accessibility, passion, and out-of-the-box style, which seemed to transform the way couples  viewed their special day.  After the rapid growth of the first year, Emily wanted to broaden her scope by adding events other than weddings.  Again, based on word of mouth, she landed a non-profit client, who was in need of a race planner for their certified 5k race which hosts more than 2,500 people!  At the end of the 5k race in 2014, the client hired Events by Emily on the spot for 2015 and has since offered her a monthly marketing contract.

“Working with Emily Wilson has been nothing short of a Godsend for Sarah and I at Mamie’s Poppy Plates. We hired Emily last year to help us plan a party that is attached to our annual Race to Remember 5K in June. The party goers and participants tops 2,000 so we knew we needed the right person. Emily immediately took ownership of the event while staying in line with our vision (and budget). Our event grew by over 30%, was organized, streamlined and full of new fun. Sarah and I had been hoping and praying for someone we could hire to help us with the extreme growth we were experiencing at MPP. Emily impressed us with her passion for our mission, organization and creativity so we invited her to work with us year round in strategic planning for future growth along with her continued event planning at MPP. We are very excited about the growth we have already seen and the plans we have in place for the future.”

“All our wedding vendors made a point to let me know how Emily was the best event planner they have worked with. Being in the wedding business myself (I’m a photographer!) I have to agree with them all. Emily’s promptness, creative eye, and professionalism gave me total freedom to enjoy my wedding day without stressing about a thing. Everything was perfect, and we believe a huge part of the success is because Emily was there running the show.”

“I’ve had the opportunity to work with Emily in my own wedding as well as in the marketing arena for a period of time. Although the two experiences were unrelated and at different points in Emily’s career, in each situation her ideas, planning and organizational skills were consistent. Two words that come to mind when I think of either scenario are “details” and “solutions.” Emily is thinking of what you haven’t and crossing those things off the list, offering ideas that are both practical and design-conscious, and providing (and executing) solutions to any hurdles that might pop up unexpectedly – all with an upbeat bedside manner to boot. {…} She is genuinely invested in each client, event and team that works with her. “Trisha Timmerman Boyd
