ThanksGiving Your Waistline a Chance This Year!

In many Thanksgivings past, I’ve counted down the days til the big feast… fantasizing about all the amazing ways I planned to “cheat” on whatever diet I was on at the time.  Pie, stuffing, countless buttered rolls, and an obligatory bite of turkey.  (Turkey’s never been my fave.  Anyone else grossed out by the smell??)

Well, this year is different.  This year I am genuinely excited about healthy, nourishing food… my body craves it!  To be honest, I’m even somewhat bummed that my healthy options are going to be so limited as I enter into all the holiday festivities.  (Why is it people frown upon bringing salad to a Thanksgiving potluck? KIDDING! Please don’t kick me outta the tribe.)

So here’s where my mind has been lately… Trying to conjure up ideas for healthy dishes that I can bring with me to the upcoming holiday meals and parties without people looking at me like I’m an alien or trying to kick me outta the tribe.

I’m thinking if I show up with a veggie tray, that’d be frowned upon.

But if I show up with this…?

Well, who wouldn’t want to dive face-first into that?!?  Healthy or not, who cares?

So I thought, “Hey! Maybe the Pretty/Hungry community is having the same predicament!  And maybe they’d like to know which recipes I’ve come up with in answer to this conundrum.”

(You’re totally in the same predicament, right?)

Well, no matter which side of the fence you’re on: the “craving healthy” side, or the “give me pie!” side… I think you’ll find these options delicious.  Which, of course, is the entire point.  They’ll appeal to everyone, and no one gets looked at like they’re an alien for daring to bring something healthy to the feast.

Here are a few savory recipes I’ve had my eye on lately!

Festive and healthy Thanksgiving ideas!

And here are a few ultra-indulgent-tasting sweets you can try, that aren’t so sickeningly sweet that they make your eye twitch.  Pssst, that healthy Chocolate Fudge Pie gets requested by name in our family!

Anyone out there trying a lighter take on Thanksgiving this year?  Let me know what you’re making!

Do you count 10 lbs of potatoes, 3 sticks of butter, and 2 blocks of cream cheese as a lighter take??!
